Summer Camp Essentials – What to Pack for your Child

Last summer was the first time I sent my son to a sleep away summer camp. The camp provided a basic list of what to bring (clothes, shoes, sunscreen, towels, etc.), but what I found super helpful was a list of extras that a friend shared with me. She had been sending her son to a sleepover sports camp for years, and she recommended all kinds of things that I wouldn’t have thought of:

  • flashlight & backup batteries
  • desktop fan
  • extension cord & power strip
  • shower shoes
  • Frogg Toggs Cooling Towel
  • drawstring-type backpack
  • alarm clock
  • laundry bag
  • Benadryl tube

Of course, my recommendation is to put some Sarah & Abraham waterproof name labels on everything you can and send along the extras with your child (they can put them on disposable water bottles and other items that they receive while at camp).

My daughter isn’t quite ready for a sleepover summer camp yet, but when she is, we’ll know just what to pack for her.

personalized teacher gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up soon! It’s May 6th – May 10th this year.

Our personalized teacher notepads are our bestselling teacher gifts. I give these to my kids’ teachers every year, and they always go crazy over them. Several of them have come to my website to order more for themselves and gifts for their teacher friends as well!

Personalized teacher note cards also make a great gift. When your child’s teacher is sending out thank you notes or maybe writing notes to welcome next year’s incoming students, it’ll be a much more enjoyable task when she’s using these thick note cards and sending them off in beautiful Paper Source envelopes.

Place your order soon to ensure delivery well before Teacher Appreciation Week!

New Lower Prices on Custom Kids Throw Pillows

After lots of number crunching, we’ve been able to lower the price on our custom throw pillows, made to look just like your little girl or boy.

These pillows have always been one of my favorite products to photograph. I love seeing the delighted looks on the faces of the kids – these pillows are always such a big hit! And I’m continually amazed by just how much the pillows sometimes look like the kids!

These personalized pillows made a great accent in a nursery, but they’ll also grow with your child… my 8-year-old daughter still absolutely loves hers!

We’re now offering the pillow covers with an insert for $54.50 or just the cover (if you already have an insert) for $49.50.

Newly Redesigned Website with Preview Feature

I’m so happy to announce that the sarah + abraham website has been completely redesigned!  It now includes a preview feature that allows you to see exactly what your item is going to look like before you place your order!

I hope you’ll spend a little time checking out the new site and trying out the preview feature. You’ll also notice that I’ve added some fun new products, and more new products will be coming soon!

New Personalized Placemats for Kids – Fun AND Educational!

I just added some new placemat designs today that I’ve had in mind for a long time. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to finally begin offering placemats that are fun and personalized but also educational.

My kids absolutely love looking at maps, and my daughter has become very interested in cursive lately, so I finally took the time to figure out what I wanted to offer, decide on colors, and begin offering them. I really love how they turned out.

I haven’t been able to get any good photos yet, but as soon as I do, I’ll be updating the listings with more pictures. I really hope you like these as much as I do. If you have any ideas for anything else you’d like to see, please let me know in the comments!

International Shipping Update

After much thoughtful consideration I’ve decided to no longer offer international shipping effective Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012.

For the past five years I’ve struggled with international shipping, and it has caused a great deal of stress – for me as well as several of my international customers. Most of the time packages arrive in a timely manner with no problem, but on the occasions that they don’t, the lack of reliable tracking and uncertainty regarding customs policies can be extremely frustrating.

Unfortunately, the frustration and disappointment caused by factors that are out of my control is simply too stressful. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes my international customers, and I hope that they’ll consider using a mail forwarding service for future orders.

If you have any experience (good or bad) using a mail forwarding service, please leave a comment to share your experience with us. Thanks!

Shop Swap with Imagine Gnats

I recently participated in a Shop Swap through Oh, Hello Friend. I was so happy to be paired up with Rachael at Imagine Gnats. I sent her water bottles and some gift labels for her girls, and she sent me a super cute spinny skirt and custom doll for my daughter, plus as an added surprise she included a few note cards and a beautiful washi infinity scarf.

This was such a great trade, and I especially loved that she included a Sarah Jane fabric in the skirt. Thank you, Rachael!

sarah + abraham personalized placemats on TODAY

Liz from Cool Mom Picks was on TODAY last Tuesday morning sharing some personalized gift ideas including sarah + abraham personalized placemats!

It was super exciting for us, but also completely overwhelming. Within 24 hours we received more than a month’s worth of orders (including over 900 placemats, which we print and laminate ourselves). Getting everything completed in time for delivery before Christmas was more than Jen and I could possibly accomplish on our own. Luckily we had lots of friends and family members who were happy (or if not happy, then at least willing!) to jump in and help us out.

I’m so grateful to everyone who helped us get these orders completed in less than a week… my husband, Mike; my sister, Kim; my friend, Jill; Jen’s mom, Joanne; and even my daughter, Emma, who loved sticking Priority Mail stickers on packages. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without their help!

And of course we’re so very thankful to Liz for sharing our placemats with TODAY viewers!
